    Hi. I just bought Mitakon 35/0.95 II for my XE3 last week. Overall I think it’s a great lens. Still, I found that the lens exibit quite a harsh purple fringe (CA) when shooting high contrast scene with 0.95. I heard that ver. 2 had already fixed this problem for some degree. So I’m a not sure whether this is normal or I got a bad copy. I attached my photo here:

    Those examples look pretty bad. I tried that lens and don't recall seeing that much CA, but I ultimately decided that lens wasn't for me as I just prefer AF since I use that focal length as a general purpose / family type lens.

    @jrscls

    This is the worst CA I got from this lens so far. I'll have to note that it will be gone after f2 onward.

    Yeah but you didn't buy it for f2, right?!

    Of course not! I even taped the aperture ring to hold it at 0.95 all the time!

    The whole point of this lens is the f/0.95 aperture. If you need to stop down to f/2, then I would prefer the Fuji 35 f/2, which is the lens I settled on for the focal length.

    Yes it's normal behavior of 35mm 0.95 MK II, your sample shows excellent performance, I like the first shot.
    It's good to know that limitation, thanks for sharing.

    I'm using my lens at 0.95 for about 80% of shots, and only closing the aperture when I need deeper focus area for particular cases.

    BTW, you can cut rubber ring from bicycle tire tube, and put it on the lens right near the aperture ring - it's significantly increasing friction and ring remains at F0.95 position securely, and you can still rotate it for that rare cases : )

    That's pretty shocking but for the price and f0.95...its gonna compromise somewhere!
