Well this one has come as a surprise!

I havent seen specs but its hinted it will use a Leica mount.

Olympus is hinted to have a big announcement early in 2019(there were 7 FF lenses patented by them in 2017)

Considering the M43 mount sharing i wonder IF, those 2 will go the same route as before???

Sept 25 is a date thats thrown up.

A press conference day before PhotoKina and they have the clock ticking down like Nikon when they "RE invented mirrorless"

I noted this announcement a couple of days ago in the X-T3 thread as information about the new Panasonic format and it's impact on Olympus has been a major topic of discussion on the 4/3 forum board. Most parties agree that the new format and specs will be targeting the video industry.

I'm expecting the top video capabilities and very capable stills, like G9.If they have 2 slots they could have the best FF M/L???...Pricing will be interesting as CaNik have gone head to head with Sonys prices.

Some more loose news, the announcement is definitely the 25th with shipping March 2019.

It wont use a Sony sensor(possibly TowerJazz) and it wont be a Leica mount.

    Well,
    rumoured things
U$3000...30 mp...Very high end video capability
Weathersealed...2 card slots(not sure what they are but should be UHS ii)

No info on native glass BUT apparently Panasonic are making adapters for CaNik glass. So doing that they know their target market, talk about the direct approach.

This could be the one, finally, we've all been waiting for...

    I jest.

But seriously, Panasonic with the current GH5 and GH5s have the reputation of having the best video capability in the mirrorless world with the main issues being focus and low-light related.

If Panny, rumoured along with partners Leica, can bring their video knowledge to the FF mirrorless party, they could have a real winner here.

I'm still sitting on my fence for my hybrid kit for 2019 onwards. I now know it won't be Canon, it might have been Nikon but isn't and currently is Fuji still...but if Panny knock it out of the part and both the stills, video capability and useability etc are more than what I would be getting with the big F...

Somewhat strangely, Leica have been handing out SL’s to the vlogging world...which a couple of years after launch suggests they may be trying to shift them before an SL2 launch. Perhaps with a Panny badged option...?
