Bought the camera 2 weeks ago in Japan, looked around and couldn't find any cases besides the official leather case (which I did buy). Fast forward to last week, I found a workshop in Guangzhou that makes custom grips for various cameras. The version they advertise has a cutout for the battery compartment for easier card switching, but I asked them to make a custom baseplate for me which omits the battery compartment in favor of a stronger base due to the material being wood. Since I can charge via USB and download every once in a while, not having the opening is not a big problem. It's a nice looking case that adds a lot of character which I feel official Fuji case takes away.

What is the environmental provenance of the ebony which is an endangered hardwood?

Oops, I did not know it's endangered.. I'll write the studio a letter, right now, this moment, right after this post, with the same question.

I don't want to use endangered woods. I plan to order one in a different key...ivory.

    Short answer: yes.

Long answer: I asked Mr. Hu and he said he makes grips for the following Fuji models:

    X-Pro2, X-Pro1, XT-1, XT-2, XT-10, XT-20, XE-1, XE-2

He also makes other custom grips for popular models from brands like Leica, Sony, Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic, Sigma.

Everything is made to order so I had to wait a few days to get mine (fast shipping since I was in China instead of Los Angeles) but definitely it was worth the wait. You can private message me if you want more details.

At least this is the more useful type of camera porn I reckon.. Instead of you know, people putting already extinct OVFs on the XPro and X100..
