Still amazed how sharp this lens is. If every DSLR user could just operate one of these camera's for a day they'd have 2nd thoughts about keeping their old system. I took this shot using the advance filter section allowing Red to come through. Not the best composition but the RR Police were close by so I had to take this shot from a moving vehicle.[IMG]

RR photos are as irresistible as cat photos.

The land and train in the bottom shot look so like that where I was stopped on the way home from work the other day. Love trains... I had an N Gauge set when I was a kid... they cost a bloody fortune now days!

    Thanks for sharing :)

Not sure why you felt that the red helped the image ... It appeared to me rather contrived. Pity!

I'm curious - the railroad cops would try to stop you from taking a photo?
Is this a known/common problem for train photographers?

True! I just got the 27mm after using the 23mm f2 and 35mmf2, I still think that the 27mm is a keeper.

The original color of the locomotive is red and white so even though I added that filter it still looks original and rather cool looking. I guess I should have posted both so you could see for yourself :)

Normally no, but unfortunately their office and fleet of cop cars sits just 100 yards away from this engine.

I shot with a Pentax 21mm which is too wide for my liking and had the FA 31 which was a bit tight for me so the 27mm is perfect for my style of shooting anyway. A bonus that it's both diminutive and sharp.

I don't care where their office is-if you are on public property, you can photograph anything in plain sight.

I would have had to go on their property for a better shot so I just took it from my car window until my Fuji 90mm lens comes in this Saturday:)
